School started this week for many teachers around the state of Missouri and even the country. As school gets back in full motion we must remember as teachers why we do what we do. We are often times the only smiling face that a child might see in a day. We are more often than not the hero of at least one child. Each day we have a chance to make a difference for the just cause of a child. Most importantly we have a huge responsiblity to show each child that they have meaning and can be/do something with their lives. This an opportunity that very few can say they get in their life time. So when days get tough and the road seems all up hill remember as a teacher you are truly the one “Making the Difference”.
Things to do that make will make a difference:
.Be honest, caring, and trust worthy
.Show patience, love, and kindness
.Be firm but fair
.Give a hug or a pat on the back
.Smile because it’s much easier than frowing (and makes a positive impact)
.Go the extra mile for every child
.Spend the necessary time after school with those who needed it (I know you don’t get paid to do this but the child does)
.Make a positive phone call home or write a letter/poster card and send it home
.Leave a positive note for another teacher/administrator (letting them know how good they are)
.See each child as one who can learn, develop, and growth
.Treat someone as you would want to be treated
