Most of you guys will recognize this site and if you do not then you must not be an American! It does not seem as if it were that long ago we seen this nation pull together to support one another when this devastating attack happen. But it seems if already this wonderful nation has slipped back into it’s old ways of doing things. I turn the news on each night to see the horrifying side of American culture, death, murder, rape, stealing, etc you name it. In this land of the free we certainly have maintained our freedom at the expense of others. What is sad about the way our country is, is the way it developed on principles of community, oneness, and strengthen in a common cause. But I suppose since we are people who preach learning from our past only to act out with such hypocrisy to these words. I’m not sure we will ever see this great nation prosper as it once did. In this America of the twenty-first century we have lost our since of community and our willingness to help others unless we see something in return. It wasn’t that long ago when you would see neighbors mowing each others lawns or helping each other out when disaster struck for free, because they cared. Today all though we do see this once in a while it has certainly as a whole became a thing of the past. We live a society of material things and life for the moment. Our idea of the past has no significant impact on the future and we in many cases can not see what the future brings because we are so consumed by the moment we live in. I would pray that this great nation would wake up from its long deep sleep of selfishness and rise to a nation of helpfulness and community once again. I did say I would pray for this! Sadly, enough many people would point their fingers at me for saying PRAY this to happen. They would prefer me to say I wish this would happen. Well, as dis-hearting or offensive as it may be to many of you guys who might read this. There is no way that I would every say I wish this. It certainly has to come from the answers of our heavenly Father Jesus Christ. In a nation that has worked and thrived so long on the premises of Gods promise that he will prosper a nation that puts Him first, we now live a nation that seeks to destroy every ounce of our creators name. But what makes this even more sad is the fact that Christians who see these things happening do nothing more than turn their cheeks. As Christians in today’s America we have a mission field and calling to spread Gods word no matter the risk. In fact it could lead to our earthly destruction, but hey doesn’t he tell us this when we chose to follow Him. If and only if our nation would begin to once again see that Light then this nation would have hope, but with out the Light this nation will continue to slip farther and farther into the darkness. What a powerful choice we have as Christians to lead this nation or follow it, you decide!!!
Over the last past two years I have been pursuing an educational administration degree with hopes of one day becoming a principal. Well, earlier this year I finished this degree and have began the grueling process of trying to find a job that would be the perfect match for my family and I. I must say that this process has really began to challenge my faith and trust that I put in my Savior Jesus Christ. Over the last few years I have gotten really comfortable in my walk and in fact believe I have let my own desires and selfish wants lead me into a state of staleness or maybe brokenness is a good term. I have as so many before me have tired to do, which is to take matters in my own/our hands and walk how I/we see fit with out regards to what Christ desires with my/our life. I guess most of you are wondering why I’m even speaking on such matters, well over the last month and half as I have been pursuing a principal position I have recommitted myself to seeking God along the way and not just when I see fit. With that the Lord has given me several interview opportunities along the way. Now to some of you that might seem like nothing but to me this has been a blessing considering I went through two years of schooling with basically 35-40 other future principals and none, no not one of them have been given the opportunity to interview. Well you might say that is because you have better credentials or more experience. Well, I can honestly say that this is not the case at all, but I can say is these experiences have been a God thing. A way for Him to further His kingdom. What I have been committed to do with each interview is to share my faith so I take each opportunity to let the district know what I believe in. But even greater than this is, the impact this has had on individuals that I have come into contact with has been amazing. I have had the chance to witness to more than 15 individuals about how and why I have been getting this interviews. They want to know what I’m doing different or what they can do to get interviews. Well the only thing that I let them know is that Christ my Lord and Savior has been my strength, my guide, and my deliverer. And therefore He alone has allowed me to have these wonderful interviews. Now although I have been giving God credit for these interviews I must admit I have been met with much frustration with not being given a position with any school yet. I have began to ask this question “Lord what is my role or where do you want me to have impact?” I can honestly say I do not know, but what I/we do know is that He has to lead me along the way or where I/we go will not have the blessing He desires for me or my families life.
With all of that in mind I often wonder through my worldly ways can one person have a deeper impact on the world around us. In my own unique and small mind I have began to realize with Christ as the head we most certainly can. I want to take this time to encourage anyone out there who is frustrated with life and what it has to offer that their is hope and that, that hope lies with in Christ. When we begin to let Christ be the captain of our ship/life you can lead a fulfilled life. Does this come without set backs and failures certainly not. In fact if you know any thing about the Bible at all you will notice a common reoccurring theme, which is trials an tribulations often come before growth. So certainly can we as individuals have impact? You tell me!
Most of Americans have know idea who Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is, well if you don’t I’m going to inform you. I tell you this story because when one man decides without a shadow of doubt to put fears behind, and to trust in His heavenly father then the impact one can have is unlimited. But remember this impact is not without trials and setbacks along the way. Joshua Chamberlain was an ordinary school teacher who had spent much of his early life affecting the lives of children and college students, but as the civil war waged on Joshua felt a calling to fight for the union soldiers and their battle against slavery and the wrong doings and evilness that slavery brought to this broken country. With that this ordinary school teacher became a colonel of the Unions Twentieth Maine Regiment. As colonel he would change the history of this country and eventually this world. Here is how the story went: Chamberlain and his men were faced with terrible odds as they faced the challenge of holding back one the confederates toughest and most feared generals, General Robert E. Lee. As Chamberlain and his men stood on top of a small hill looking down upon the confederates as they pursued the colonel and his men, he was faced with a decision. The decision was this we can either stand here and try to fight with less than two rounds of ammo per soldier left, we can turn around and run, or we can charge down into certain death being that he had less than 300 men facing more than 400-500 confederates. Well as you might guess he chose to charge! His men looked at him and asked “Colonel what do we do? We do not have enough ammo and they have more men than us, and they are attacking us”. With a sharp stern voice Chamberlain would have impact that would forever change history he said “Boys load your guns, open your bayonets, and CHARGE!!! Now you can imagine that his men must have thought he was crazy but they followed pursuit after they saw their fearless leader take off down the hill. Ironically, what happened next is totally and completely a God thing. Because colonel Chamberlain had been faithful in his pursuit the Lord put his hand over Chamberlain and his men. The confederates upon seeing the Twentieth Regiment charge down the hill after them became over whelmed with the fear that more men had arrived to give back up support to the regiment, they all dropped their guns and ran away. Later Lee and his men were captured. This event would be recognized as the turning point in the civil war, which in the end would lead to the Union winning and setting slaves all over the country free. Now if your wondering why I would tell this story. I tell this because when God calls us to do something regardless of what it is and when it is we better learn to listen and lean on Him for understand and not on our own. So in the end do you believe that one person can have impact?
